Common Ground, Lower 9th, New Orleans
So this is the distribution center, or distro, for Common Ground, the group I stayed and worked with. They are widely regarded as the first ones on the ground after Katrina hit. The X on the building is something that you'll see on many buildings in New Orleans. It's from when rescuers first went around checking buildings looking for survivors. The code tells when they checked, what group it was that did the checking, how many dead people, and how many dead animals. There are many, many houses that still have these markings on them.
