As a part of my extended wanderings in Beverly Hills, I checked out the ACE gallery (related to the ACE gallery in Chelsea) which had a really amazing photo exhibit of female body builders with gigantic, beautiful prints of these women. It reminded me of the shoot Timothy Greenfield Saunders did of Porn stars with and without their clothes. Anyhow, they were really wild pictures, and very (thought) provacative. It really raises questions of beauty and femininity/ masculinity.
Wild, because behind the muscles and make-up, and beyond the obvious (for me) initial repulsion, there are real people behind these eyes; the colors and magnitude of the prints help reveal a sort of grace behind these women. Like most of my crappy digital pictures, these really don't do them justice, but it was one hell of a show. Check out the site for better pix.
