The Red Car line up with Carroll Kemp

Back again at Palate, after dinner there last night. Closed it last night, and opened it this morning to come in for a Red Car Tasting with winemaker Carroll Kemp. Do I go back tomorrow for the Sunday Sessions? Anyhow, it was a stellar opportunity to taste through some of the Red Car line up, we did their rock solid Syrah/ Pinot Noir rose, Then jumped into three Pinot Noirs, Their baseline Sonoma Coast which just pulled down a 94 from the Wine Spectator, The 97 point Heaven and Earth Boheme Vyd Pinot (That's right, 97 2nd Highest score for a Cali Pinot from the Spec), and the 90 point Aphorist Pinot. All delicious, but ironically, I preferred them in the exact opposite order, the Aphorist clearly being my winner on complexity and Balance, with the Sonoma in 2nd with power and depth, and the Heaven and Earth, while lovely, taking up 3rd. A little darker than the Aphorist, but tighter and shorter.
Also, in the same issue of Wine Spectator advance are some for the scores for Craig's Sojourn Pinots. 95 points on his Gap Crown. Told you these 07's are incredible....

Carroll chilling with Mrs. Green, our 90 year old friend, who kept me company between pours with stories about Ellis Island and coming over to the States from Hungary.
