Hanne is good friends with one of the regional managers for Caymus, so we were able to get a last minute reservation for a sit down tasting at the winery. Caymus is obviously one of the best known, and continuously high scoring wines. Wine Spectator recently named them the number one Napa Cab for their long standing excellence. The 1990 Caymus Special Selection also happens to be the wine that got me into wine. It's the one that after tasting it, I thought to myself, you know, I think I could really spend some time doing this wine thing. JR was also nice enough to let us take a quick peek in the barrel room, and as a parting gift, we were each handed, get this, a bottle of the 05 Special Selection. How unbelieveably cool is that?
