Yay kids, it's Turrell time again. This one, three gems, at the DeYoung is probably the fullest Earthwork I've seen from my pal James. He's created a sort of Earthen tomb, covered in Earth and weeds. First a long hallway to the entrance arch, then around a curve to the second arch, which brings you into the inner sanctum, and finally, a circular concrete tomb in which to sit a view another painting of the sky. He has his signature lights, set on a dimmer, hidden in a side room through a locked door, but you can peek in and see it if you know where to look. The bummer though, is they kick you out around 5:30 or six, so you never get to see his lights. They stay open late on Fridays, so I may make my way over there tonight to see it properly.
If you look very carefully, you can make out a reddish hue around the blue sky circle.
