The Upside down Noguchi
Another of my favorite Sculptors, Noguchi's studio in Long Island City, Queens is now a museum. I earned the disdain of the curator when I was mezmerised by the beautiful wooden stands built to hold the work and crawled around on the floor checking them out. Anyhow, this particular sculpture didn't quite look right to me and I couldn't put my finger on it. Looking around behind the sculpture I saw what, I think, was the original base. Now, the way they have it, it's epoxied to the base on it's side. I don't like it. I climbed around on it trying to get what was, I think, the original view, and got lots of nasty looks in the process. I guess me and Noguchi just have that kind of relationship.
